Olde Burial Hill, Marblehead, MA

Wanting to expand our visits of haunted cemeteries Chris and I ventured to Olde Burial Hill in Marblehead, Ma. Where it is said the spirit of Wilmot Redd haunts the residents, fulfilling her curse at death.  Wilmot was the only resident convicted and hung for witchcraft during the Salem Witchcraft Trials, and is buried here.

Our expectations high for some haunting, we were only a little disappointed that instead of ghosts we found a beautiful cemetery atop a hill , with a glorious view of old Marblehead Harbor.  Tombstones and monuments here are a testament to the artistry of the puritans who settled here with fine examples of carvings and epitahs of the 17th century.  My favorite being:

All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As i am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me

So even though we failed to find a hint of the paranormal we did revel in the history of these early lives buried in this colonial village by the sea.  Olde Burial Hill is a must see if visiting  The North Shore of MA.
