Vale End Cemetery

OK, back in 2006 Kim and I were looking for something to do for Halloween, and we thought we'd check out some cemetery's and take some photo's. After searching online for somewhere to go we ran across various links and stories about Vale End Cemetery in Wilton, NH and decided that's where we'll head, we've always liked that area of the state anyhow.

What we encountered that day was unlike anything we've ever experienced. We pulled up to the cemetery, we parked our van on the opposite side of the road and proceeded to walk up the entrance, it was approximately 3:30PM.

Almost immediately entering the cemetery we heard a prominent hum that varied in volume and at times became a loud growl which seemed to hover right above the cemetery. As Kim and I headed our own directions in the cemetery we both felt drawn to certain areas and felt a heavy, sometimes sad, intense/claustrophobic/being watched feeling, just very uncomfortable. We both felt like we should leave but at the same time didn't, as it turned out we ended spending two hours in the cemetery, alone, except for a short period where an elderly couple arrived. They made there way to the back end of the cemetery by the water, they never looked our way, or said a word, and as soon as they arrived seemed to be gone. I to this day have my doubts that they were even really there.

At one point Kim had asked me if I wanted to head down to the area that looked like a logging road of some sort in the cemetery and I didn't hesitate in replying "no" to which she responded "yeah, me neither". There was just something about that area that we wanted nothing to do with. Now mind you though we had read a bit about this cemetery before we went, but we basically just read about the blue lady and not all the other aspects which we learned about when we returned from our trip and examined our photos, which had us research all that was written about this location.

There were too many negative feelings, unexplained footsteps, strange noises, etc... that we experienced while we were there to get into them all here, but we definitely were in the presence of something menacing. As we made our way back to our van a police cruiser pulled into the cemetery and asked if that was our van and if so move it. As we reached the van the hum disappeared (for the first time in two hours) and we both looked back into the cemetery as if something was following us.

As we made our way home, we sat in silence for a good 30 minutes, in a bit of shock I suppose. I immediately put the pictures on my computer and was convinced that something must have showed up on film, but what I saw was almost shocking and brought chills to Kim and I almost immediately after seeing it. It is a light blue face above the grave of Anne Burton, not the blue lady, but another ghost that is haunting that cemetery. that night we spent hours examining, converting to negative, contrasting, changing color hue, and various other digital treatments to the photo, but that face always remains in the picture.

We are aware that the picture was taken in the sun, but there is no denying that there is a clear, almost detailed face present in the photo in a color that appears nowhere else in the picture. If you zoom in and out, exchange colors, etc... you can get even clearer shots of it.

The day's following our Halloween trip we were still feeling uneasy about the experience and felt that something had followed us. We have since returned several times and never felt anything like what we felt that Halloween in 2006.
